The Welsh shot stopper’s contract is up and he has announced he is leaving the club after receiving an offer he could not turn down last week.

Maxwell spent four years at the club and wins the award for the second successive year after his outstanding work in the local community throughout the 2015/16 campaign.

His work in the community was recently recognised by the Football League, who awarded him the unsung hero award for the month of April.

Town’s director of Community Matt Hilton said: “Chris’s work has been outstanding once again this year. It’s the second year he’s been voted the community player of the year.
