Aimson deal done but Little to leave Blackpool

The 21-year-old Aimson had been on loan from Hull since November and yesterday agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months.

But Preston striker Little’s loan spell at Bloomfield Road appears to be over after he picked up yet another injury.

The Irishman has managed just five appearances since arriving in November, limping off in the first half of his first and last games for the club.

Aimson made a difficult debut in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy defeat at Wigan, but he has started Pool’s last five games and manager Neil McDonald said: “He’s a good, young defender with lots of potential and we’ll try and get that potential out of him as much as we possibly can.”

Little lasted just 28 minutes of last Saturday’s home defeat to Port Vale – and that appears to be one injury too many for McDonald.

He said: “Andy has hurt his hamstring and I’d imagine he’ll struggle to get fit for the end of the month (when his deal expires). He’s likely to have played his last game for the club.

“It’s disappointing. We needed to keep him fit and he needed to keep fit.”

The 26-year-old initially signed a one-month deal which was extended to a second month. His one goal in tangerine came in the 4-2 defeat at Barnsley and Pool won only one game he played in.

McDonald criticised Little for missing a golden opportunity against Vale last weekend and appears to have written off his chances of a return.

The manager said: “In the games he’s played, he’s scored one goal and we’ve created a lot of chances. He’s pulled his hamstring and that’s probably the end of that.”

Blackpool continue their transfer search ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Scunthorpe. As reported in The Gazette, keeper Dean Lyness and Watford striker Uche Ikpeazu are in talks.

McDonald said: “We are talking to certain people. Deano (Lyness, who is back at Burton) did very well here.”

Jose Cubero has agreed terms with his former club Herediano in Costa Rica after a nightmare spell at Pool.

While the deal has not yet been rubberstamped, McDonald said: “It looks like Jose is going to go. He hasn’t been involved in the season. We are just trying to dot the ‘i’s and cross the ‘t’s on that one.”
