Jamie Thomas’ double wasn’t enough for the Mechanics as Dan Cockerline, Rhys Hardacre, James McGrane and Anthony Lyons secured the three points for the Merseysiders.

AFC Liverpool took the lead early on, Cockerline chipping keeper Sam Kellett.

It only took 14 minutes for them to double their lead, Hardacre curling in a free-kick from just outside the box.

In the 27th minute, AFC Blackpool pulled a goal back with their own free-kick, Thomas’ effort going underneath the wall and into the bottom corner.

Trailing 2-1 at half-time, the Mechanics levelled in the 56th minute as, although the home keeper made a fine save, Thomas was first to the rebound.

However, AFC Liverpool got their lead back just 11 minutes later as Kyle Scorah passed across the goal for McGrane to easily beat Kellett.

The Mechanics came close to levelling in the 89th minute, only for another free-kick to hit the bar.

Despite coming so close to equalising, they had to rue that missed opportunity as AFC Liverpool scored a minute later.

Lyons netted with his first touch off the bench to make it 4-2 and end the scoring.

AFC Blackpool are back in action on Saturday when they host Pilkington.
