Three early goals in the space of five minutes put Fylde in control of this pre-season derby, though Gate gave a performance to be proud of to restrict their full-time visitors to just one more goal.

Fylde fielded a strong side, determined to get Saturday's humbling 6-1 home defeat by Preston North End out of their systems.Fylde opened the scoring after just seven minutes as James Hardy volleyed home from luke Burke's cross.They doubled their lead three minutes later as Danny Rowe cut in from the left to fire into the bottom corner from 25 yards.It was 3-0 after 12 minutes as one of Fylde's two starting triallists slotted home from close range after a slick passing move.It looked like being a long night for Andy Clarkson’s Gate side, but although they enjoyed only brief spells of possession in the opening half-hour they continually looked to break and test the Fylde defence. Hardy almost added a fourth on 20 minutes but narrowly missed the top corner forom Rowe's cross.The closest Gate came in the first half followed clever play by Ryan Riley, though his pass looking for Ric Seear was cut out by Jordan Tunnicliffe.It remained 3-0 until half-time as Serhat Tasdemir saw a shot superbly turned against the post by Gate keeper Ben Fletcher, then two minutes later Tunnicliffe headed just over.Shortly after the restart a triallist was denied one on one by Fletcher, who saved Tasdemir's long-range effort on the hour.Former Fylde youth player Dean Ing powered through the midfield but his through-ball for Gate team-mate Brett Dawson was too heavy.It was a triallist who completed the scoring on 65 minutes, converting a Rowe pass at the back post.Andy Bond's header looped on to the roof of the net but it was largely thanks to Fletcher that Gate did not concede again. The keeper tipped Danny Philliskirk's effort over the bar and saved from James Stanley and Bond late on.Gate remained competitive until the end and face another derby encounter with AFC Blackpool at The Brian Addison Stadium on Saturday, when Fylde welcome Carlisle United to Mill Farm.
