The hosts were much the better side for long periods of a game which began in blizzard conditions, with driving snow.

Colin McDonald headed home a cross on 12 minutes to secure all three points for the visitors, though AFC created at least four clear-cut chances.

Blackpool remain seventh and only three points outside the play-off zone, though they have played five more than Prestwich Heys in sixth.

AFC have a fixture backlog of their own with 13 first division matches still to play.

That will mean midweek matches for the rest of the season and they visit Cheadle Town on Wednesday.
