No play was possible during the morning session of the Specsavers County Championship match between Hampshire and Lancashire at the Ageas Bowl.
Umpires Jeremy Lloyds and Stephen Gale called an early lunch at 12:30, with high hopes the rain would stop and a clean-up could allowed play to start 40 minutes later.
But rain throughout the morning looks to have prevented that from happening with action unlikely on day three.
The most frustrated player in the ground will be Haseeb Hameed who battled to an unbeaten 77 on day two.
Lancashire remain 239 runs ahead with five second innings wickets in hand – but rain could wipe out the rest of the match.
