Lancashire’s cricketers clinched their first victory back in the top flight of the County Championship at Northampton.
They beat Northants by 60 runs, with James Anderson pitching in with five wickets and Kabir Ali three.
Northants were dismissed for 179 in their second innings, 60 short of the target.
The home side had started the day on 145 for five.
James Middlebrook was the chief stumbling-block for Lancashire as he scored 87 before being caught by Ashwell Prince off the bowling of Glen Chapple.
Northants’ lower order struggled against the Lancashire onslaught.
At one point they were 157 for five, but lost their last five wickets for 22 runs.
Middlebrook was the eighth batsman to fall as he rapidly ran out of partners.
Anderson finished with figure of five for 41, while Kabir Ali returned three for 17.
Lancashire claimed 19 points.
