BWFAC's Simon bids to be a Euro star
Conditions were difficult for the runners as it was a very warm day and there was high humidity for good measure.
The race started and finished by the iconic Brandenberg Gate with Simon completing the course in 4:47.38.

Hide AdNearer to home, Michelle Tickle completed the undulating Run Preston 10K in 44:09 to finish 109th overall and seventh female, while Bob Massey (59:57, 704th) was the first Vet 70.
Other BWFAC runners were Clare Clarke (716th, 60:24), Nicola Walker (869th, 64:56), Stephanie Wood (850th, 64:59), Amanda Fuller (875th, 65:13) and Fiona Little (1,115th, 76:49).
In the 5K race Tracey Sharrock was 169th (29:50) and Leanne Porter was 251st (34:07).
There was little track and field action locally; however Susan Ball crossed the Pennines to compete in the Yorkshire Veterans Open Track and Field Meeting, which was held at Cleckheaton.

Hide AdSusan was second in both the javelin (20.31m) and hammer, as well as recording fourth place in the discus competition thanks to her throw of 21.36m.
BWFAC youngster Luke Rawcliffe was on international duty as he was part of the Great Britain squad which competed in the Biathlon World Championships at Viveiro, Spain.
Rawcliffe competed in the Under-13 category which comprised of a 400m run, 50m swim and 400m run.
He came home in fifth position and was part of the gold-winning British team, as well as finishing the mixed relay in seventh place.

Hide AdThere were 12 BWFAC runners at the last Blackpool parkrun with James Greenaway first back in 17:46.
Rafael Eaton (20:01), Deetray Jarrett (21:03), Amanda Fuller (30:48) and John Cardwell (33:44) all set PBs.
Lucy Tickle (22:10) ran her 99th parkrun with Debbie Terras (28:55) and Paul Tregonning (31:35) doing their first.
Paul Sparrow (19:30) was the first BWFAC finisher at Lytham Hall, where David Twizell (24:58) set a PB.
