Brian Rose has fired out a warning to champion Demetrius Andrade: “I’m going to take you to the trenches.”

The Blackpool boxer is a huge outsider to beat Andrade in their world light-middleweight title fight in Brooklyn, New York, on Saturday night but he is unfazed by people already writing him off.

He insists a lack of belief that plagued him throughout part of his career has now disappeared, to be replaced by supreme self-assurance and an imperishable belief that he is ready for his date with destiny.

Rose said: “It’s a dream come true for me to be fighting for a world title and training here in America, and I am going to make that dream come true on Saturday night.

“There is no doubt in my mind that I am coming back with that world title.

“There is no doubt that Andrade is a world-class fighter – he is well-schooled and he’s got a world title, so we know he is good. But we will see how good he is on Saturday night.

“I believe he can’t dig deep. I can dig deep and I have done that six or seven times in my career. I am going to see if he can.

“I am going to take him to the trenches and see if he can come through that.”

Rose, who will box for the World Boxing Organisation version of the 11-stone title, realises the size of the task facing him this weekend.

“For a British fighter to come to America and get a decision is tough.

“I have just got to make sure I do enough in the fight. When I do enough, I will get the decision.

“It is a tough task on paper, no doubt about that, but it is something I am more than capable of doing.

“The dream I have had ends with me winning that world title. I have believed in myself for the past five or six years.

“In the past, I used to write myself off. No matter how I performed I put myself down, but the belief of other people got me to where I am now.

“I actually believe now I will win that world title and take it back to the UK.

“I have been written off but I keep proving people wrong and I will on Saturday.”

And Rose had a message for all his supporters. “I just want to thank all the fans back home. If you are not coming to the fight, scream at your telly for Team Rose. I am going to do it.”
