Cardle: Ritson hasn't faced anyone on my level

Lytham boxer Scotty Cardle admits it will be a tough ask knocking Lewis Ritson out in tonight’s British title scrap – but still remains confident of getting the win over the 12 rounds.Cardle challenges for Ritson’s lightweight belt tonight on a packed card at The O2 Arena in London, which will be aired live on Sky Sports. It is a belt Cardle held for close to two years until he was outpointed by Robbie Barrett last April.Ritson, who is unbeaten in 14 professional fights, then snatched it off Barrett in style before defending it against Joe Murray last month.Cardle, who has won 22 of his 24 fights, has sparred with Newcastle boxer Ritson before. He said: “I see the fight going the distance. I think he’s got a good chin,” the 28-year-old told The Gazette.“He hasn’t been fully tested yet but he seems a tough lad, so I don’t see him going down to many shots. But I’ll definitely try to get him out of there before the final bell. I’m feeling good and I’m up for the challenge..”Cardle’s progress has stalled in the last couple of years and has had to go back to the drawing board, competing in six and eight-rounders to work his way back up.He added: “It’s good to be back fighting for titles again. I feel I’ve got unfinished business with the British title, so this fight and this win will move me onto bigger things.“I needed a little tune-up fight after my loss to Barrett but I didn’t show up on the night for that fight. I wasn’t psyched up or prepared.”Ritson and Cardle will clash on the undercard of Dillian Whyte’s fight against Lucas Browne for Whyte’s WBC Silver Heavyweight title.
