Kirkham boxer Little aims to silence big-mouthed rival
The Kirkham fighter takes on unbeaten Darren Surtees on the undercard of the World Boxing Super Series super middleweight quarter-final clash between Liverpool’s Callum Smith and Sweden’s Erik Skoglund.
It means Little skipping an appearance on a show at the Hilton Hotel in Blackpool on September 1.

Hide AdAnd the 26-year-old says he cannot wait to get into the ring and get his career back on track.
His determination has been fired even further by the statements being made by his rival Surtees in the run-up to the clash.
Surtees vowed: “I’m just going to demolish him in every single round.
“If the referee doesn’t stop the fight, I believe his corner will!”

Hide AdLittle, the former English and Central Area welterweight champion, said: “Surtees is saying he will give me a hiding every round – that’s good for a laugh.
“I intend to do the same to him. I know exactly what he is going to bring.
“Fair play to him – that a novice is prepared to take me on.”
Not only will it be Little’s first bout of the year, but also his first with brothers Mike and Dave Jennings in his corner.

Hide AdHe says things have gone as smoothly as possible at the Jennings gym in Coppull.
“They are really good for me,” he said.
“When I do something they don’t like in the gym, they will tell you that you need to put it right.
“They will tell it to you straight and in no uncertain terms, and I just love that aspect of it.
“I feel re-energised now and people will see that in the ring.

Hide Ad“Though it’s my first fight of the year, the time seems to have flown by and it is not as if I have been getting fat in that time.
“I have been in the gym all the time.”
Surtees, from Thornley in Durham, has won all seven bouts to date, five of them by way of knockout.
It will be Little’s first contest since losing on points to Glenn Foot, of Sunderland, on points in their Wigan clash last December.
Surtees beat Ross Jameson back in May to win the Northern Area light-welterweight title.
