Blackpool boxer Ryan (RP) Davies made it three in a row as professional when he scored a points win ov er six rounds in an entertaining scrap at the Village Urban Resort in the town, beating experienced Danny Little.
Referee Alvin Finch gave the verdict to Davies by 59-57.
Super-welterwweight Davies said afterwards: “It was a very hard fight, and I thought I had won it by moe than two rounds, but that was the decision.
“It was a very exciting. I hit him with some good shots and he did the same to me, though he didn’t really hurt me.
“I came on strong in the last round and I thought I was going to stop him, but time ran out.
“This was a big win for me because of the calibtre of the opponent and the kind of of fighter he has been in the ring with.”
Davies added: “I spoke to Little afterwards and he he said I had beaten him fair and square.
“In fact, he said that when he took the fight, he had taken it as an insult to be put in against a novice fighter who was only 2-0.
“I will go straight back in the gym, but I will have to let all the bruises heal, and hopefully I will be back in the ring some time in later March or early-April.”
