A brutal body shot floored Simmons and the Scot was unable to make the count at London’s York Hall.

It means Askin, Barnsley born but Blackpool based, has now won his last five fights.

It takes his record to 23 wins, three defeats and one draw.

Nicknamed ‘The Assassin’, Askin defended his belt for the first time in emphatic style having originally claimed it against Craig Kennedy in May of last year.
