BLACKPOOL Central Area cruiserweight boxing champion Matty Askin may not be too far behind light-middleweight Brian Rose from challenging for a British championship.
Askin must be high up the pecking order in the cruiser division, despite his lack of experience.
The current holder of that title – Rob Norton – will defend it against Leon ‘Solid’ Williams at London’s York Hall, Bethnal Green, on October 21.
Askin will be looking closely at the outcome of that as he is keen on getting his shot at the Lonsdale belt sooner rather than later.
Williams lost to Blackpool’s Richard Turba earlier in the year, but has had two wins since, which didn’t prove a great deal, against Danny Couzens and Askin victim Nick Okoth.
