Arnfield stepped up the tempo in no uncertain fashion in that session, trapping his Huddersfield opponent on the ropes and giving him little or no respite.

Warren was taking a good deal of punches to all parts of the body with little or nothing coming by way of return.

The third was much closer and on occasions Warren did get through.

The fourth saw the least impressive action, though Arnfield, from Stalmine but announced as a Blackpool boxer, certainly made up for it in the fateful fifth round.

Warren had already shown signs of tiring by the time that Arnfield got into full flow and finished the job in no-nonsense style.

It was Arnfield's first fight since November when he put a brave show to take champion Nick Blackwell to the full 12 rounds, only to lose the verdict in the short-notice bout on a points verdict with the British middleweight title at stake.
