The British middleweight title eliminator between Stalmine’s Jack Arnfield and Cello Renda scheduled for Manchester on Saturday night has been called off.
Renda has been forced to withdraw from the much-anticipated contest after being involved in a road accident on the way to the check weigh-in. Arnfield said that was devastated at this development, but hoped that a new date would be fixed soon once Renda had made a recovery. Arnfield will still feature on the Manchester bill, though it won’t be a title eliminator, and no opponent has yet been mooted. Arnfield said: “I am gutted.
”Renda was hurt in a car accident. I don’t think it is anything serious, but obviously when you are hurt in an accident like that it takes some time to recover. “I am devastated that it has happened because I was looking forward to the fight, which could have put me in in line for a British title bout. “I wish Cello all the best and hope that he makes a full recovery.”
