Blackpool darts veteran Ronnie Baxter proved he still has plenty to offer after an encouraging run to the fourth round of the Coral UK Open.
Baxter, who turned 56 last month, won three matches on day one of the tournament at Butlins Minehead Resort.
Having edged past Paul Rowley 6-5 in the first round, Baxter defeated Richard North 6-3 and Darren Webster 10-8.
The Fylde coast favourite couldn’t keep his run going on Saturday, losing to Ireland’s William O’Connor 10-6 in round four.
Even so, it has been a pleasing start to 2017 for Baxter, who had slipped to 73rd in the Professional Darts Corporation World rankings but regained his tour card for the next two years at Qualifying School in Wigan.
Peter Wright won the UK Open, beating Gerwyn Price 11-6 in the final.
