AFC Blackpool bowed out of the Lancashire Cup this weekend after a thrilling encounter with Didsbury and Chorlton.
The Blackpool and District Youth Football League Under 18 division leaders threw away a 4-1 lead with all the goals from Liam Markey, however in a cruel twist West Didsbury and Chorlton stormed back to take the game to penalties.
The first nine were scored but the tenth was missed by AFC Blackpool and they bowed out 5-4.
In the league the only game to survive the weather saw goals from Kieran Clarke (2), Danny Roskell and Luke Harris give FC Rangers Blacks a 4-0 win at Spirit of Youth Blues.
In the under 16 alpha league Poulton beat BJFF Vipers (Berrisford, Phelps) 5-2.
Poulton were ahead early when a Hugo Miller pass was collected by Conor Houghton who ran through to score. Their second goal came from a well taken direct free kick by James Whitehead.
BJFF pulled one back from a penalty before a long-range effort from Lee Bramhall saw the home side lead 3-1 at the break. Poulton soon found a fourth in the second half via Houghton’s second only for BJFF to score and put the reds under pressure. Both teams hit the woodwork before Lee Bramhall sealed a 5-2 victory late on.
In the beta league goals from Lee Casey (2), Rylan Casey, Joe Reid and Cameron Smith saw AFC Blackpool stay top with a 5-2 win at Staining, Joe Murray and an own goal were Staining’s replies.
Clifton are level on points with them after they beat Layton Clarets 7-3 thanks to Ben Standaloft (2), Lewis Henshall(2), Sam Taylor, Liam Smith and Dylan Jones, clarets replies from Jayden Marsh(2) and Jack Smith, Dean Glover and Jack Webster were on target for Lytham Jaguars in their 2-1 win at St Annes, Matt Van Wyk replied.
Kirkham Blues remain seven points clear of the under 15 alpha league with a 4-2 win at St Annes courtesy of goals from Cian Menzies(2), Conor Baxter and Luke Sevens, Robert Flanagan and Tom Reardon with St Annes goals.
Clifton (Theo Iaounuo(2), Jacob Wharrie(2), Alex Ingle) stay second with a 5-2 win against Poulton Town, Joe Holden the stand out player, Nathan Feeney and Eddie Ollerenshaw replied for Town.
Only Warton Typhoons game at home to Blackpool Rangers D12 survived in the beta league and Typhoons won 8-4, Will Gargett scored a hat trick, Will Carter and Will Holmes a brace each and Jack Worswick scored for Typhoons and Joe Pinkett(2), Alex Davidson and Jake McVeigh for D12.
Kirkham missed the chance to gain some ground on Thornton Cleveleys Reds in the under 14 alpha as they drew 2-2 with Blackpool Rangers, Sam Saxton and Lewis Bowes scoring for Kirkham, Luca Hardman for Rangers.
BJFF Blades (Castor Hartley, Harrison Sharp, Charlie Halliwell, Wayne Rossall) took full advantage by beating Layton Lions (Sam Ludlam) 4-1, and BJFF Blues (Tyler Moore(2), Oliver Moran(2), Leon Bottomley, Alfie Portlock) beat Poulton Town 6-1.
Foxhall remain top with a faultless start after beating Layton Blues 3-2 thanks to Harrison Stott, Luigi Chiappe and an own goal, Denes Ballo with Blues goal.
BJFF Whites (Ethan Rossie(4), Duncan Magolis(3), Caitlin Ellis, Lewis Brady) beat Foxhall Hoops 9-1, Leon Holmes with Foxhalls reply, Warton Typhoons Gold (Dylan Williams(3), Paul Cain(2), Ali Dickinson, Will Cocks, Jacob Ellison, Ashley Donald) beat BJFF Whites (Teron Graver) 9-1.
Lytham Juniors (Matty Mercer(2), Kieren Hill, Louise Fielding, Archie Greeves, Joe Bucker, Ryan Pilling) beat Layton Clarets (Joe Lonsdale(2), Adam Henderson(2) 7-4.
Both perfect records remained in tact in the under 13 division with Squires Gate top, having played a game more, after their 7-1 win against Thornton Cleveleys thanks to goals from Joshua Dolby-Armstrong(2), Mackenzie Maruszak-Webster(2), Oscar Dugdale, Brolan Grundy and Lucas Millar, PJ Allen replied.
BJFF Blades are the other team a game behind Gate and they managed a 7-0 win against St Annes thanks to Charlie Croasdale(2), Jake Guy(2), Marco Amin, Owen Mason and Ben Bowker.
BJFFs Viper team (Nathan Winstanley(3), Charlie Fern, Ben Shaw, Nico Moreton, Liam Skillbeck) also won by the same score at Blackpool Rangers, and in the Foxhall inter club derby Foxhall beat their Hoops 8-0 courtesy of goals from Alex Derbyshire(4), Jacob Stone-Grice(2), Rio Louth and Robbie Fitzpatrick.
In the Under 12 division BJFF Blades suffered LFA Cup defeat on penalties against Atherton Storm after James Wildes goal ensured the game ended 1-1. In the league game Poulton (Theo Mihell, Harvey Bateman) beat St Annes (Ethan Collinson) 2-1.
