Blackpool and District Youth League round-up

Poulton's Under-13s are through to the Lancashire FA Cup final after a dramatic 4-3 penalty shoot-out win.

The Blackpool and District Youth Football League side saw off FC Strikerz Bullets from Bolton in nailbiting fashion after a 2-2 draw saw the game decided on spot-kicks.

Harrison Bailey and Jamie Elliott scored in regular time, setting up a memorable 4-3 penalty victory.

In the Hogan Cup, Foxhall U12s managed a 6-3 win at Thornton Cleveleys Whites thanks to Harrison Fishwick’s hat-trick, a Connor Satchell brace and Adam Carley’s strike. Whites’ replies came from Harvey Dalby, Kieran Tobin and Harvey Hampton.

A pair from Harvey Bateman, an own goal and a Matthew Seal strike gave Poulton a 4-0 win at Layton.

In the U13 Hogan Cup, Squires Gate beat BJFF Vipers 9-1 with pairs from Ethan Goulding, Oscar Dugdale and Lucas Miller, plus goals from Jack Robinson, Luca Greenwood and Dmitri Jackson. Liam Skillbeck replied.

Dylan Henshall hit a hat-trick for Foxhall Hoops in their 7-1 win over Blackpool Rangers. Joshua Stanley and Lewis Dyson hit two apiece, while Fleet Potts scored the Rangers consolation.

The preliminary round finally went ahead in the U14 Hogan Cup, with Thornton Cleveleys Reds winning 16-0 at Layton Blues. Conor Thompson led the way with four goals, while there were hat-tricks from Josh Wood and Luca Barea . Sam Cross scored two, and Joe Clueit, Isaac Foster, Andy Woolhouse and an own goal completed the tally.

In the first round, YMCA beat Kirkham 4-2 to book a place in the quarter-finals. Kirkham were two goals up at the break thanks to Henry Knott and Taylor Stock but then came an incredible second half turnaround.

YMCA instantly pulled a goal back when Ruben Shaw pounced on a half-clearance to blast the ball into the net, and they were soon level as Toby Grant burst through the middle and fired home.

Three minutes later, YMCA went ahead for the first time as Shaw grabbed his second with a shot across the keeper into the far corner.

With five minutes left, they put the game beyond doubt thanks to a spectacular effort from Jake Molloy.

In the Gold Bond U13 Alpha league, goals from Jacob Grice (2), Adam Rodgers, Brody Johnson, Joshua Loan-Clarke and Leo Walker extended Foxhall’s lead at the top as they beat Lytham Juniors 6-0.

Foxhall missed out on their chance to extend their lead at the top of the U14 Beta after Eoghan Murphy, Laurence Chiwanda and Korben Robinson gave Warton Typhoons Blues a 3-1 win, Harrison Stott replied (see previous pages).

Clifton kept their 100 per cent record up in the U15 Alpha as a hat-trick from Dylan Webb and goals from Jack Butler, Finlay Clarkson, Alfie Tomlinson, Jack Arrowsmith and Jacob Wharrie secured an 8-1 win over Blackpool Rangers Tangerines (James Ashton).

Kirkham Blues, however, remain top after they won 5-0 against South Shore courtesy of goals from Jimmy Nelson(2), Connor Baxter(2) and Joe Newell.

FC Rangers and Kirkham Reds are joint-top of the U15 Beta League after both came through close games.

Rangers beat St Annes Bombers 4-2 thanks to a Kye Wylie hat-trick and Haydn O’Brien’s goal, while Kirkham edged out Blackpool Rangers D12 3-1 with goals from James Findlay, Will Critchley and Dom Pendleton, Jake McVeigh replying. Fleetwood Gym (Will Highton, Jordan Broomhead) beat Spirit of Youth 2-1 (Bailey Pack).

In the only game to survive in U16 Alpha, YMCA beat Kirkham 7-0.

The home side got off to the best possible start when Liam Docherty opened the scoring at close range from a Bradley Jones corner. Kirkham defended resiliently until just before half-time, when Ross Hart latched on to Nathan Keegan’s beautifully weighted pass and fired home to make it 2-0 at the break.

YMCA were quick out of the blocks after the restart, with Jones slotting home a cross by Hart, who scored his second from Jack Bishop’s cross.

Hart secured his hat-trick following more good work by Nathan Keegan, who gained his third assist by putting Bishop through on goal for the sixth. Bishop’s second completed the scoring after good work by Docherty on the flank.

Harry Fisher, George Hawkins and Charlie Cadley all contributed to YMC’s clean sheet, taking turns deputising for injured Billy Crelin in goal.

AFC Blackpool were able to stretch their lead at the top of the U16 Beta league to six points after a 10-0 romp against Poulton Town which included hat-tricks for Lee Casey and Callum Gellatly. Goals by Cameron Smith, Elliot Cheetham, Joe Reid and Daniel Carr brought up double figures.

Spirit of Youth Yellows went top of the U18 league with their 8-2 win against Warton Typhoons.

Spirit got off to the worst of starts, falling behind in the opening moments, but they hit back when Jordan Parker rounded the keeper and squared for Kyle Hodkinson to equalise.

Isaac Fluss put Connor Dunleavy through to put Spirit in front. Dunleavy’s second made it 3-1 at half-time followed a brilliant run and chip over by Alex Footman.

Spirit dominated the second half as Jordan Parker fired home a loose ball from the edge of the box and substitute Robert Markillie made it 5-1 shortly after coming on.

Ollie Betts and Sam Kowalski made it seven, the latter scoring the goal of the game with a 30-yard screamer into the top corner. Warton pulled one back before Parker’s second completed the scoring. Matthew Roberts and Joseph Holmes scored for Typhoons,

In the game of the day, FC Rangers beat AFC Blackpool 5-2 to go second in the league. Goals by Rob Oxley (2), Ron Hanslip, Josh Errington and Caiden Callaghan secured the points, while Jake Barrett scored both for Blackpool.
