Blackpool and District Youth League round-up

All three Under-15 Hogan Cup quarter-finals ended 1-0, with Paul Hargreaves scoring to send Blackpool Rangers Tangerines through to the semis at the expense of Kirkham Reds.

Alfie Tomlinson did likewise for Clifton against Blackpool Rangers Revolution, while Sydney Sullivan was the hero for Poulton against Fleetwood Town.

In the remaining first-round tie, a Joe Newell hat-trick and goals from Cian Menzies(2), Noah Fluss-Tramontano and Jimmy Nelson sent Kirkham Blues through 7-4 against Northgate.

In the plate, St Annes beat Warton Typhoons 7-2, St Annes defeat going into this game with only 10 players and with striker Kevin McGow in goal.

After an early goal from Dan Pilling, Kyle Townsend scored his first ever goal in a St Annes shirt. His second soon followed, a magnificent 30-yard strike to make it 3-0 at half-time.

The second half started with Warton bagging a goal but St Annes immediately made it 4-1 through A.J. Wilson.

Goals by man of the match Dan Pilling and Tom Readon made it six before Warton pulled one back with a penalty.

But St Annes weren’t finished and Robert Flanagan scored a seventh.

Their clubmates the Bombers couldn’t match this as Connor Prendergast’s hat-trick helped Poulton Town defeat them 7-0. Josh Grimes(2), Kai Butterworth and Josh Sackworth were the other scorers.

Lytham Juniors won 5-3 against Spirit of Youth courtesy of goals from Kai Clarkson-Lowe (2), Josh Serghi(2) and Daniel Chase. Spirit’s scorers were James Higginbottom, Dillon Ward and Kieron Guest.

In the Alpha league, BJFF Blades beat South Shore 4-2 with goals from Rainey (2), Prior and Wood, while Kieran Cheston and Joshua Smyth replied.

In the Beta, a Kye Wylie brace saw FC Rangers take the spoils with a 2-0 win at Blackpool Rangers D12, and Josh Cutler and Bradley Ward scored for Fleetwood Gym in their 2-1 win at Layton, for whom Dalton Kellet replied.

In the Under-16 Hogan Cup, Blackpool Rangers had a shock turnaround in the quarter-finals after beating holders YMCA on penalties in the last round. They bowed out in the same manner at Thornton Cleveleys. Harry Johnson scored for Thornton, who then went through 4-2 in the shootout.

Foxhall eased through to the semis again as goals from Aaron Waterfield, Steven Hodgkinson, Connor Finlayson and Lee Ashton gave them a 4-0 win against Wyre.

The big winners were Staining, who beat Warton Typhoons 10-0 with hat-tricks by Marley Holdip and James Healey, plus strikes from Seth Laycock, Joe Murray, Will Whittaker and Will Saunders.

AFC Blackpool (Kieran Whitehouse 2, Lee Casey 2, Rylan Casey, Callum Gellately, Cameron Smith) beat Clifton 7-0.

In the Alpha League, goals from Berrisford, Molloy and Hulme gave BJFF Vipers a 3-0 win against Layton, while Lytham Jaguars beat Layton Clarets in the only Beta game thanks to a Dean Glover hat-trick and goals from Kyle Pilling (2), Sam Oldfield and Marcus Schofield.

The under-18s started their Hogan Cup campaigns at the quarter-final stage, and hat-tricks from Blake Cracknell, Tom Griffiths and Liam Markey gave AFC Blackpool a 9-2 win against Spirit of Youth Blues, for whom Josh Halstead and Lewis Byrne scored.

Spirit Yellows fared much better with a 5-0 against St Annes. With a semi final-place at stake, Spirit turned in the performance of their season with a tremendous display of determination.

They fought for 90 minutes to get the job done and started the scoring off with a fine long-range drive from Isaac Fluss.

The second was a typical Jordan Parker finish and just before half time Connor Dunleavy nipped in to side-foot home a great cross and make it 3-0.

Spirit continued in the same vein and went 4-0 up when Alex Footman picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box and fired home. The game was put to bed when Parker grabbed his second with a fine turn and finish.

Kieran Clarke scored five goals and Luke Harris the other as FC Rangers Blacks beat Warton Typhoons 6-1, Tom Holmes replying.

All the Under-12 games were in the league and BJFF Blades remain top after a William Mountford hat-trick and further goals from Tom Whiteside, James Wilde, PJ Spencer and Matthew Finney gave them a 7-1 win at Foxhall as Connor Satchel replied.

Poulton remain second after Theo Mihell and Harvey Bateman gave them a 2-0 win against third-placled Layton, and St Annes edged out Thornton Cleveleys Reds in a seven-goal thriller thanks to Archie Hingley(2), Keaton Adams and Nathan Murray. The replies came from Armin Khodabahsh, Sam Adshead and Oliver Amos replied.

In the Under-13 league, both BJFF Blades and Squires Gate kept their perfect records intact.

Blades won 3-0 at Clifton thanks to a Daniel Smith brace and Charlie Croasdale strike, while Gate had two goals each for Josh Dolby-Armstrong, Jack Robinson and Dmitri Jackson in their 6-2 win at St Annes, for whom Charlie Shuttleworth-Breen had his own double strike.

Foxhall remain top, however, by virtue of games played after they beat BJFF Vipers thanks to a Brody Johnson hat-trick and a goal from Jacob Stone-Grice.

Lytham Juniors’ Rhys Dodd is having a great run of form after his five goals against Fleetwood Gym gave him 15 in the last three games. Ewan Macauley matched him with five in the 13-1 win, in which Harry Redman(2) and Joshua Adams also scored. Gym’s reply came from Zac Hogarth.

Ellis Wilson managed a double hat-trick in Thornton Cleveleys’ 11-2 win against Blackpool Rangers. Max Lewis, PJ Allen, Aaron Clinghan, Patryk Popielarski and Marcus Jolly were also on target, while Joseph Windows and Mitchell Ready replied.

And a Jamie Elliott hat-trick and two goals from Harrison Bailey gave Poulton a 5-2 win against Foxhall Hoops, for whom Dylan Henshall and Benjamin Rukin scored.

In the under-14 Hogan Cup quarter-finals BJFF Blades beat YMCA 3-2 at Bispham Gala Field.

BJFF started brightly enough and took the lead with a strike by Jake Molloy, but late in the half Blades scored twice in five minutes to lead 2-1 at the break.

YMCA remained well in the game and a Spencer Baxendale goal levelled the scores. However as the tie reached its closing stages, Blades regained the lead. Lewis Crawford impressed throughout for YMCA, with Ruben Shaw also notable. Lewis Duckworth, Charlie Halliwell and Sam Tolley were on target for Blades.

Clifton had to reply on a penalty shootout to end Fleetwood Town’s after drawing 2-2. Rangers went through 4-2 on spot-kicks.

Kurtis Tester and George Smith scored for Fleetwood, Harry Cox and Luke Parr for Clifton, whose successful penalty-takers were George Acton, Denny Cain, Liam Pothecary and Cox.

Goals from Joe Warren-Plant, Alfie Malinder, George McGrath, Sam Woodcock and Louis Califore gave Poulton Town a 5-2 win against Warton Typhoons Gold, for whom Dylan Williams and Jack Brett scored.

Thornton Cleveleys Reds complete the semi-final line-up after goals from Kian Makepeace, Billy Cartmel and Jay Davies gave them a 3-0 win against Blackpool Rangers.

Layton Lions were the big scorers in the Plate competition as goals from Luke Rawstron (3), Will Davies (2), Jack Anderson (2), Ollie Fishwick (2), Adam Urgahart, Riley Moat and Hayden Mills made up a 12-0 win at BJFF Vipers.

In the all-Foxhall, derby the Hoops lost 6-1 to their counterparts, with Dan Horne scoring their consolation. Harrison Stott (2), Sam Breeze, Rob Baker, Kazek Kowalski and Matty Quinn scored for Foxhall.

Goals from Tyler Moore(2), Callum Berry, Ben Davies-Ward and Leon Bottomley gave BJFF Blues a 5-0 win at Warton Typhoons Blues, while a Jake Wilson hat-trick wasn’t enough to send Fleetwood Gym through as goals from Cameron Green, Oli Martin, Jack Tickle and Sam Saxton saw Kirkham edge the win 4-3.

In the only league game, Layton edged out South Shore 6-4 courtesy of a Billy McCready hat-trick and goals by Denes Ballo (2) and Will Fieldin. Joseph Currie’s hat-trick wasn’t enough for Shore, whose other scorer was Joshua Summers-Green.
