Blackpool and District Youth League round-up

Owen Mason's hat-trick fired BJFF Blades to the top of the Goldbond Blackpool and District Youth League Under-13 division with victory over previously unbeaten Squires Gate.

Both sides boasted a perfect record going into the game, and BJFF had to come from two goals behind to secure the win.

Joshua Dolby-Armstrong and Jack Robinson fired Gate ahead, but the Blades finished the better thanks to that hat-trick from Mason to take the spoils 3-2.

Joshua Adams (2) and Rhys Dodd scored to continue Lytham Juniors’ great form with a 3-2 win against Thornton Cleveleys Blues, for whom Ellis Wilson scored both.

Dominic Mills and Joshua Hampson scored to give Poulton a 2-0 win against Clifton.

Dylan Henshall fired a fantastic double hat-trick to help Foxhall Hoops to an 8-3 win at Fleetwood Gym, where Lewis Dyson and Aiden Wright were also on target. Gym’s replies came from Zac Hoggarth(2) and Joshua Batchelor,

Ilya Kosogorin was the star for St Annes, scoring four goals in their 9-2 win at Blackpool Rangers. Further goals came from Charlie Shuttleworth-Breen, Ethan Darbyshire, Daniel Wilson, Kai Liddell and Benjamin O’Hara, while Jayden Moss and Marcus Masterson replied.

Thornton Cleveleys Reds’ perfect start in the Under-14 Alpha league continued after a seven-goal thriller against Kirkham. Goals from Luca Barrea(2), Josh Wood and Jack Wyres-Roebuck gave them the 4-3 win despite a hat-trick from Taylor Stock for Kirkham.

Blackpool Rangers moved up to joint-second after Ben Armstead(2) and Luca Hardman gave them a 3-1 win at Fleetwood Town, for whom Branden Sissons hit the consolation.

YMCA won 1-0 at Poulton Town in a game of few chances. Poulton came closest to opening the scoring when a goal-bound effort was cleared off the line by the outstanding Adam Brook in the first half.

With the game heading towards a draw, YMCA snatched a winner. A fine cross from Jorge Coultard was flicked on by Fenn Breakell to the impressive Harvey Shaw at the far post and he fired the ball home to give his team a dramatic win.

BJFF Whites moved level on points with Foxhall in the Under-14 Beta league after their 5-0 win against Layton Clarets courtesy of goals from Liam Dunleavy (2), Ertunc Ozturk, Josh Smithson and Cailtin Ellis.

They moved level with Fleetwood Gym, who forced a draw at Foxhall thanks to goals by Dickenson (2), Betmead and Lee. Harrison Stott scored all Foxhall’s goals,

Warton Typhoons Gold moved into third after goals from Ashley Donald (2), Jacob Britton(2) and Dylan Williams gave them a hard-fought 5-4 win at Layton Blues, for whom Billy McCready scored all four goals.

Warton’s Blues managed a 3-3 draw with Lytham Juniors, Bradley Parsons, Chris Wilkinson and Laurence Chiwanda scoring for Blues and Will McGowan(2) and Ellis Maudsley for Lytham.

Teron Graver scored a brace, while with further goals came from Sam Murphy, Zac Hickling and Liam Manson to give BJFF Vipers a 5-3 win against South Shore, for whom Joshua Thomas(2) and Cameron Walker replied.

In the Under-15 Hogan Plate quarter-finals, goals from Robert Cowburn and Cameron Gourley saw South Shore beat Lytham Juniors Home Heat 2-0.

St Annes also progressed to the semi-finals after goals from Robert Flanagan (2), Tyler Davison and Kevin McGow gave them a 4-3 win at Blackpool Rangers D12 (Tom Cranshaw, Jake McVeigh, Joe Pinkett).

A brace each for West, Gibbons and Wood, along with goals from Hulme, Ridge and Ainsworth, saw BJFF Blades beat Fleetwood Gym 9-1 (Ben Gill).

In the Alpha league, leaders Kirkham Blues had to work hard for their win at Blackpool Rangers Tangerines but goals from Cian Menzies, Josh Butler and Jimmy Nelson gave them a 3-2 win, Jones and Amos replying.

Theo Iouannou(2), Alfie Tomlinson and Jacob Wharrie made sure Clifton kept up the pressure on Kirkham with their 4-1 win against Fleetwood Town(Michael Thwaites, see centre pages) and Oliver Purdon of Blackpool Rangers Revolution and Oliver Medhurst of Poulton both scored in their 1-1 draw.

Lucas Kilgallon scored five of the six goals (an own goal was the other) in St Annes Bombers’ 6-0 win against Spirit of Youth in the Beta league.

The seesaw that is the title race for the Under-16 Alpha league continued as Foxhall returned to the top in midweek only for YMCA to miss out on the chance to go back there after losing 2-1 against Thornton Cleveleys.

This was the teams’ second meeting inside seven days and YMCA threatened first James Cowburn’s fierce drive was tipped on to the crossbar by the keeper.

The visitors took a first-half lead when the ball nestled into the YMCA net from a 15-yard lob.

After half-time, YMCA’s Harry Fisher headed a corner just wide but he made no mistake when Jack Bishop’s corner slipped through the keeper’s hands and he fired home from close range.

Renewed pressure from the visitors saw them scored a winning goal. YMCA pressed hard for an equaliser but were denied by some fine saves. Scorers for the winners were Gardner and Kilmartin.

Blackpool Rangers (Jack Arliss, OG) drew 2-2 with BJFF Vipers (Berrisford 2), while Connor Houghton (2), Lewis Martin and Alex Manders scored for Poulton in their 4-2 win at Layton Blues, for whom Bradley Duckworth and Luke Bowden scored.

Lytham Jaguars’ chase for runners-up spot continued after goals from Ben Schofield, Ben Davies and Sam Oldfield gave them a 3-1 win at Warton Typhoons, and Clifton kept up their chase of the Jaguars after goals from Lewis Henshall(2), Kham Moreau, Brent Burgess, Kenzie O’Neill, Ben Standaloft and Luke Daniels secured a 7-0 win against Poulton Town.

In the Under-18 league, leaders Spirit of Youth Yellows managed a hard-fought 5-3 win against FC Rangers Blacks. Spirit got off to the best possible start in the first minute, when Jordan Parker chipped the ball over the defence and ran on to it to finish and put Spirit 1-0 up.

But Spirit switched off and in the space of 10 minutes FC bounced back with two quick fire goals.

Spirit soon equalised when a great run down the wing and cross from Kyle Hodkinson was met by Isaac Fluss, who fired home to make it 2-2 at half-time.

Jordan Parker then put Spirit 3-2 up 10 minutes into the second half, and a great bit of determination by Connor Dunleavy – running for a no-hope ball – saw him get his rewards when he beat the onrushing FC keeper to put Spirit 4-2 up.

It was soon 5-2 when a Spirit corner was met at the near post by Sam Kowalski to seal the game. Kieran Clark (2) and Luke Harris scored for Blacks.

Hat-tricks by Liam Markey and Will Smith, plus goals by Tom Griffiths (2), Josh Connolley (2) and Jake Barrett gave AFC Blackpool an 11-1 win at Spirit of Youth Blues, for whom Joss Halstead replied.

FC Rangers Blues beat Warton Typhoons 6-2 thanks to Rob Oxley (2), Rob Hanslip(2), Joshua Errington and Jack Tomes. Typhoons’ two were scored by George Chesworth and Benedict Le Saint.

In the Under-12 league, the top two both won close games by the same 2-1 scoreline.

Leaders BJFF Blades beat St Annes thanks to Sheick Fadairo and Oliver Partridge.

Finally, Poulton’s Nico Cobb and Harvey Bateman scored in their win against Thornton Cleveleys Reds, for whom Sam Adshead replied.
