More sprinting success for BWFAC's Katy

Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde AC's Katy Wyper is in a rich vein of form which continued with the Scottish Senior and Under-17 Championships at Glasgow's Emirates Indoor Championships.

Katy, after qualifying from the heats fastest with 7.53s, collected her second gold medal of 2018 by winning the senior 60m championship final with another PB of 7.51.

At the other end of the distance spectrum, Emily Japp ran in the Northern Cross Country Championships.

It was a tough 8K course for the senior ladies’ race at Harewood House, Leeds, and Emily finished in 13th place (32:45), with Michelle Tickle 211th (41:56).

Michelle’s daughter, Lucy was 104th (18:50) in the 4K Under-15 girls’ race.

Kirsty Holland and Rick Pinches used the St Annes 10 Mile race, staged on the out and back course on the windy promenade between St Annes and Lytham, as part of training for the London Marathon.

Both finished in 1:36.38 for 251st and 252nd places.

It was also tough conditions, especially the final two miles into the wind, for Nicola Unsworth in the Hunters 10K race which was held near Preston but she was 63rd in 45:01 and Lady Vet 45 winner.

Steve Dunn (11th, 20:43) was the first BWFAC runner at the Blackpool parkrun.

Nick Hume (13th, 20:48), Jeff Wilson (29th, 22:47), Karen Dunford (36th, 23:48), Derek Crane (44th, 24:35), Peter Gibson (48th, 24:35), Ellen McLachlan (52nd, 25:11), Jeff Wright (88th, 28:07), Nickola Walker (94th, 28:54), Amanda Fuller (119th, 30:44), Andy Hume (123rd, 30:54), Kirsty Holland (122nd, 30:53), Rafael Eaton (137th, 32:53) and Fiona Little (165th, 37:48).

Another parkrun featuring Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde AC runners was the one held at Lytham Hall.

Paul Sparrow (20:51) was eighth, leading in Peter Singleton (24th, 22:21), Clare Clarke (88th, 28:15), Bob Massey (100th, 28:43) and Howard Henshaw (136th, 31:57).
