Festive fun for BWFAC’s athletes

The glut of Christmas races was completed with the Lancaster ‘Festive 4K’ Fun Run, which attracted more than 400 runners of all ages.

It was won by Lee Parrington of Barlick Fell Runners, who finished in a speedy time of 12:34.

First across the line for Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde AC was 16-year-old Jack Tickle who finished in 14:08 with Andrew Simm in 15:12.

Michelle Tickle was first female vet 40 (16:24), closely followed by daughter Lucy (16:25) and husband Simon (16:44).

Youngest daughter Holly (73rd, 18:12) ran with her fellow 10-year-old team-mate Gracie Scott (74th), with the oldest member of the squad, Howard Henshaw, 271st in 25:05.

At the Ribble Valley 10K Bob Massey was 1,079th in 61:31.

It was Lytham Hall parkrun’s 100th run last Saturday with BWFAC’s turnout as follows: Michelle Tickle (22:35), Simon Tickle (22:40), Peter Singleton (22:45), Lucy Tickle (22:53), Rick Pinches (26:33) and Howard Henshaw (32:26).

At the Blackpool parkrun, Paul Beech was fourth in 20:11 and Paul Sparrow sixth in 20:20 with Nicola Unsworth the first lady in 22:35.

The other BWFAC runners were Rafael Eaton (22:42), Neil Salanki (22:49), Peter Gibson (25:25), Simon Scarr (26:58), David Twizell (27:08), Nickola Walker (31:41) and Andy Hume (33:33).

Both of the local parkruns staged extra events on New Year’s Day with Blackpool hosting at 8:30am and Lytham Hall at 10am, giving runners the chance to do both if they wished.

There was a good BWFAC turnout at both venues.

Those runs featured Jack Tickle (19:31 and 19:57), Luke Rawcliffe (19:58), Nick Hume (21:06 and 20:52), Paul Sparrow (21:11 and 20:19), Joe Lund (21:41), Lucy Tickle (22:51 and 24:09), Michelle Tickle (22:58 and 22:58), Nicola Unsworth (22:09), Simon Tickle (23:12 and 22:55), Peter Gibson (24:40), Alison Titterington (25:39), Holly Tickle (25:55 and 27:47), Gracie Scott (27:11), David Twizell (26:36) Bob Massey (30:51), Nickola Walker (32:41), Andy Hume (34:27 and 36:02), Tracey Sharrock (32:00), Jeff Wilson and his son Jack (37:46) and Fiona Little (40:06).

Amanda Fuller ran at Southwick Country parkrun’s New Year’s Day event down in Wiltshire, where she crossed the finishing line in a time of 30:36.
