Adam's golden smiles in Blackpool Promenade 10-miler

Among Blackpool's many attractions on a glorious bank holiday weekend was the annual Promenade 10-mile run.

Many visitors to the resort lined the route between North Shore and Little Bispham for the race, which attracted 250 runners.A small group of four shared the lead from the start, but by the halfway point young Sale Harrier Adam Sciacca had pulled clear and went on to record a convincing victory in 56mins, 02secs.Blackburn Road Runners’ Jos Crowther ran a personal best to finish second in 56.23, with Billy McCarthy third in 59.17. Just outside the podium positions in fourth was Blackpool Wyre and Fylde Athletics Club’s Harry Poole with 60.20. The women’s race was won comfortably by Sharon Raynes (26th overall) in 71.50 from Bianca Pederson (31st) in 73.41, both runners unattached. Blackpool & Fylde Athletics Club’s Nicola Unsworth was third and also the first lady veteran in 75.37, finishing 38th overall.Fylde Coast Runners Events would like to thank Blackpool Council, Remote Medical Services and the many stewards and marshals whose helped ensured the event ran smoothly.
