Astley is a run in the Park for Wesham's Rob
Wesham's Rob Danson revelled in the fifth race in the Inter Club Grand Prix series in Chorley's Astley Park.
Danson stormed away from the start and had a big lead into the second mile of the 4.7 mile distance, lapping half of the field as he strode to the finish 85 seconds clear to clock 25:03 for the win.
The Air Show 10K in Bispham continued its annual popularity with 250 runners and again hosted the Northern Masters 10K Championships.
Garry Barnett was the first Wesham finisher in 17th place with a time of 38:34 in perfect running conditions.
It was a busy week for the Inter Club with the fourth and final race in the fell series on Sunday at Boulsworth from the Trawden Country Fair.
John Collier finished 79th overall in 57:47 with Nigel Shepherd (83rd, 57:59) close behind, leading in Jen Salt (156th, 1:10.12), Graham Vickers (197th, 1:25.57) and Debbie Myerscough (200th, 1:28.45).
Paul Gregory was the first Wesham finisher in the third and final Catforth 5K in this year’s series; he came home 12th in a time of 18:12.
Vicky Gore ran the Dublin Rock’n’Roll Half Marathon on Sunday, running 2:10.24 despite taking more than 15 minutes to cross the start line and no chip time being given.
Phil Leaver and Debbie Bell took on the role of tail runners in last week’s Lytham Hall parkrun as Wesham helped out with the official roles; they brought round the last runner in 49:05.
Chris Pike was in St Helens for the run in Victoria Park and he ran 24:31.
The Gores were in Dublin for the weekend, and in the Malahide parkrun on Saturday morning, Megan Gore ran 35:30 with Steven and Vicky Gore in support with the same times.
Ben Wrigley was at Witton Park in Blackburn and clocked 25:51 with his son Eric.
At Stanley Park, Blackpool, Wesham’s participants included Stephen Browne, who ran 23:13, Rob Wallace (24:26) and Lynn Brown (33:06).
