New plans have been submitted to build 35 homes in the centre of Poulton.
Baxter Homes wants to build the houses on land off Tithebarn Street on land currently used for grazing horses.
The site backs on to the Blackpool to Preston rail line.
A Baxter Homes spokesman said: “The land is currently under utilised and unsuitable for agricultural uses and consequently does not generate sufficient income to allow for appropriate maintenance and land management.
“The site has become overgrown and the dilapidated buildings and associated fences are unsightly and are visually detrimental to the main access into Poulton-le-Fylde.”
Neighbours have expressed support for the plans, which have been submitted to Wyre Council.
The authority will make a decision on outline planning permission later this year.
