Kirkham developer Baxter Homes wants to build 17 affordable homes on 0.43 hectares of land off Ormerod Street in Thornton – right beside Fleetwood FC’s new training ground.

The majority will be semi-detached, though a terrace of three homes is planned close to the new estate’s entrance, plans lodged with Wyre Council have revealed.

Some 13 will have two bedrooms, while four will have three bedrooms, if planners given the go-ahead.

A total of 21 car parking spaces have been planned for.

Papers read: “In developing the design brief the following objectives were established: To provide new homes constructed to the latest standards of high insulation and energy efficiency.

“To provide high quality and attractive family housing.

“To create new homes for private sale, designed to meet current design and environmental standards.

“To benefit the visual amenity of the surrounding area by creating buildings that reflect the local styles whilst providing modern accommodation within.

“To maintain the privacy of the surrounding existing houses, while achieving privacy for the tenants of the proposed developments.”

The houses will be built using multi-buff brickwork with contrasting bands, grey and terracotta roof tiles, and will be fenced off with 1.8m-high timber, documents have also revealed.

Nearby residents, and the football club, will now be given the chance to have their say on the scheme, with a decision made by town hall planners in the near future.
