Injured woman rescued from beach

A team from Lytham coastguard has helped ambulance crews evacuate a woman from the beach at Blackpool.

A 999 call led emergency services to Squires Gate at around 3pm.

Coastguard workers from Fleetwood and Lytham were in Blackpool at the time to support the air show.

The woman was repored to have suffered leg and hip injuries in an accident on the beach.

It is not known how she came to be hurt.

At around the same time coastguard were alerted to a person reported to have jumped off North Pier.

The call turned out to be a hoax.
