Disabled parking pass
I have just completed a lengthy renewal form for my Blue Badge which personally is a godsend.
A large part of the questionnaire is concerned with the walking ability of the person concerned.
So could someone please explain to me why I increasingly see Blue Badge displayers seemingly having no apparent difficulty getting in or out of their vehicles, and quite often making off with alacrity and no discomfort.
The only conclusion I can draw is that falsehoods are told and no-one bothers to check.
I’m sure I’m not alone with this thought about this much abused and wonderful benefit which used properly is a blessing for some folks.

It was a refreshing chance to see a TV production company show a positive slant on Blackpool last Friday. The feature on Weekend Escapes with Warwick Davis shown on ITV was excellent prime time exposure of the Tower Ballroom, Comedy Carpet, Illuminations and The Zoo.
Blackpool has a lot more to offer than just ‘booze and bingo’.
Reaching out to new generations to improve tourism figures and Blackpool’s image is not beyond the reach of probability in this wonderful age of social media advertising.
Tower rhyming slang
I love to read My Gazette, and I take an interest in many of the articles.
Today I read about Jimmy Armfield and his lovely wife who attended the 120th anniversary celebrations at Blackpool Tower.
Jimmy said people used to call the Tower the ‘old bag of flour’ but he had no idea where it came from.
May I make a suggestion, that it comes from Cockney rhyming slang?
It was a lovely story, and shows we learn something new every day.
