Could anyone from this council please explain why a £2.4m windfall for the Blackpool Illuminations is something to boast about ?
Firstly, why can the Illuminations not be powered by a small wind farm ? I am sure for £2.4m they could buy a good few wind turbines.
Secondly, why spread the Illuminations all over the coastal front? Surely by placing them between North to South Piers it would be the equivalent of an outdoor Illuminasia. This would attract more people into the town, that is of course if they make the town centre worth visiting.
By this I mean getting rid of the patchwork on all the new paving on Church Street, and getting rid of the myriad of charity shops, mobile phone shops and overpriced eateries.
It would seem Blackpool Council feel we do not have enough car parking areas, despite the hundreds of acres of empty car parking in South Shore and the old bus station multi-storey in the town, so they are pulling down even more buildings to make even more empty space.
The new council offices I note has trees around it, I ask then why has St John’s Square been left bare? No trees, no statues, no greenery, and no seating and most of all no public toilets.
Companies like IKEA could be brought into town, and why could we not have a big market similar to Blackburn’s New Market area which is highly popular?
People want a holiday that is within a fair budget, a place where attractions do not require a year’s salary for admission, a place where the streets are kept clean, where food can be had at a price where the family can eat without having to pay more than they earn in a week for one family meal, a place where they can have a safe environment to walk from A-to-B without beggars asking or demanding money, a place where they don’t have to avoid dog foul or drunks walking about with a bottle of cheap cider or openly smoking dope.
This council need to turn around Blackpool and if they are not capable of doing this then it is time for them to step down from office before any more irreparable damage is done.
If not then it is without question – End Game Blackpool.

Keep roseacre sleepy
Do those in favour of fracking know where Roseacre is, or ever visited the area?
A few weeks ago we travelled through this quite sleepy backwater village and all was calm.
Can you imagine the upheaval and noise distress that will be put on this sleepy village if fracking goes ahead in this area?
Yes, perhaps Britain may need to frack, but not in a populated village where people will not be able to sleep because of noise, traffic and whatever smells emerge from the proposed wells.
Let’s try it in Mr Cameron’s or Mr Osborne’s areas first.

Need to collect tram fares
Blackpool Council’s efforts saw last year’s visitors the best for 30 years.
Our tram crews were unable to collect all the fares from the jam-packed trams.
Blackpool cannot afford for this to happen, so let us make sure it doesn’t. For the half term peak periods make all the trams between Bispham and Squires Gate non-stop Illumination trips, beginning and ending from various stops around the circuit.
Thus giving the conductors the whole trip to collect the fares.
A special bus service that runs parallel to the promenade would transport regular passengers.
Dog fouling outside homes
When are the dog wardens going to get round to Penswick Avenue, Luton Road and East Pines Park, East Pines Drive and North Drive and have a look at the dog fouling?
It is a disgrace.
The same owners are allowing their dogs to foul and don’t give a damn as long as it is not outside their home.
It is not all dog owners as a lot do clean up.
But those who don’t should be fined.
Then they will soon clean up.
