Three groups of 14 to 17-year-olds, including from Cardinal Allen in Melbourne Avenue, Fleetwood, completed a three-day ‘Future Zoo’ course.

Launched by the zoo and Myerscough College, it saw them taking part in a ‘zookeeper academy programme’, which included classroom and hands-on learning, and completing a portfolio for any future college and university applications.

The zoo’s head of education Rebecca Reynolds said: “This project aims to connect students to animals and immerse them in real-life stories of wildlife conservation.”
