Youngsters at a Fylde coast swimming club have given their thanks to the Swallowdale Trust after receiving a generous grant.

Fylde Sharks swimming club at the YMCA Pool and Gym at St Annes applied for the £150 grant with the trust last year after The Gazette launched a campaign to help the coast’s most deserving groups and individuals.

Fylde Sharks organiser Christine Miller said: “We used the money for training purposes.

“We recruited volunteers to come in and show they are committed to working with us and then we pay their expenses towards becoming a qualified swimming coach.

“Our children need to be treated in a special way so by training our coaches to a high level it does ensure that their special needs are met.”
