IT’S hard to believe the tender age of some of these twinkled-toed dancers.
Youngsters from as young as five and six are currently taking part in the Junior Dance Festival at the Winter Gardens, which started yesterday and runs all week.
Around 1,200 competitors from all over the world are in Blackpool to dance in the international championships and try to impress the judges.
This is the second year the annual event was held in the Empress Ballroom, after many years taking place at The Tower.
The youngsters, aged up to 16, are set to trip the light fantastic in categories including Latin, ballroom and sequence.
Organiser Sandra Wilson: “Often they only get to dance in sport halls, so it’s wonderful for them to get to dance in the Empress Ballroom, the same floor the adults will dance on in next month’s adult dance festival.
“They are always great events.”
