Indie rock band Alt-J have announced a gig at Blackpool's Empress Ballroom.

Releasing their third album at the end of this week, the band will come to the resort’s legendary music venue on Saturday, September 9, with tickets going on sale at 9am this Friday.

The Leeds band, made up of Joe Newman (guitar/lead vocals), Thom Green (drums) and Gus Unger-Hamilton (keyboards/vocals).

Alt J picked up the Mercury Music Prize in 2012 for their debut album An Awesome Wave.

It’s follow up This Is All Yours went straight to the top of the UK album chart on its release in 2014.

Third album Relaxer was announced in March and will be released on Friday.

Speaking to NME last summer, Thom Green said of their studio sessions: “There’s been a lot of ideas.

“We’re very excited about it, I think it’s going to be pretty interesting.

“I feel like it’ll be different, but I don’t know. It’s funny – we write together so well and it comes pretty naturally and pretty quick, but I can’t predict it.

“We write what we feel.”
