Joe finished second at a national Barber of the Year contest in London over the weekend and he snipped his way to glory with first place at the Great British Barber Bash in Liverpool last month.

That came just a few months after Joe won first prize in the Creative Pompadour category of the UK Barber Battle, where he created a 1950s quiff in front of 200 people.

The talented dad, who runs Cartmel Barbers on Lancaster Road, Garstang, entered the competitions after winning the Bridegroom category in the 2014 National Hairdressers’ Federation competition at Blackpool. Joe, who attended Corpus Christi Catholic High School before training in babrbering at Preston’s College, said: “It is awesome, I did not expect it at all, it is a dream come true for me.”

“The UK Barber Battle was a national competition, whereas the National Hairdressers’ Federation competition in Blackpool, was a regional competition.

“Although I was over the moon with my victory at Blackpool, the victory at the UK Barber Battle is bigger.”

The 32-year-old stylist, who has been at the barber’s shop for 12 years, says he has a real desire to keep on winning competitions, with 2016 hoping to be another year to remember.

Joe added his dream would be to be a member of a British team at the world championships, if one is ever set up again.

He would also like to set up a hair academy and one day be a judge at the various competitions which take place across the UK.
