THIS is the bold vision for Blackpool Football Club’s new hotel.
Situated in the new South Stand corner of the ground, the Blackpool Football Club Hotel is being targeted at conference visitors, as well as holidaymakers.
Work is well under way on the 70-bedroom hotel, which includes luxury suites, family bedrooms, and standard accommodation.
The club hopes to use its existing conference facilities to attract business travellers.
BFC business development manager John Woodman said: “We’ve had a bit of stick about the hotel not being open yet, but it has been delayed by work on the corner stand being held up.
“A view of Bloomfield Road’s hallowed turf accompanies many of the rooms and while the hotel is within touching distance of the town’s many amenities, a built-in sports bar and restaurant will ensure that you can relax without setting foot outside.
“And we want people to use the existing conference facilities at the club along with the hotel which we think will boost trade.”
The hotel is now earmarked for an early summer opening after building work was delayed on the South Stand corner.
Recruitment for the hotel is well under way with hotel boss Sam Oyston pledging to employ as many people from the surrounding area as possible.
He has been working with Blackpool and The Fylde College and Job Centre Plus to ensure its 10 reception and 14 housekeeping jobs go to the local area.
They devised a training programme for the club to ensure it got the best candidates lined up for the positions when it opens.
Mr Oyston said: “We wanted to help with these issues and give those without a job in the area the first chance to get one, rather than taking people on who might have a job elsewhere already.”
The plans include bars, a gym and a top-end restaurant for guests at the hotel.
