A woman who stole from a shop told police she had been praying she would not get caught.

Suzanne Thorley said she had taken items to eat and drink because she was hard-up after moving house.

Thorley, 45, of Spencer Court, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to theft.

She was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £150 court charge plus £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said Thorley was seen stealing a packet of ribs and a can of gin and tonic valued together at £6 from Sainsburys, Talbot Road on July 3 at 4pm.

Thorley apologised and said she had kept out of trouble since 2011.
