A PENSIONER was robbed in a terrifying knife attack in her home.

The 74-year-old from Wyre Street, Fleetwood, was threatened in her bedroom and tried to fight back with a walking stick before the robber escaped with cash.

Now police are appealing to the public for information to help them track down the attacker.

DI Andy Bunn from Wyre CID said: “This is a serious and callous attack on a vulnerable member of our community in her own home, the consequences of which could have been even more serious.

“I feel certain that someone out there will know who the offender is and I would urge them to contact the police.

He added: “This lady has been attacked in the one place she thought she would be safe: her own bedroom.

“She has lived in that house all her life.

“We are confident the offender will be a person from the local community and someone will know who this person is.

“They have to think to themselves that this sort of behaviour is completely wrong and we need them to contact us so this person can be identified.”

Anyone with information can call Lancashire Police on 08451 253545 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
