Woman rescued after getting stuck in mud
Around 8am on Saturday, hours before RNLI teams were due to appear in the Lytham Club Day procession, the woman, out walking her dogs, became stuck in thick mud up to her knees close to the town’s lifeboat station.
Her dogs made it back to the Promenade, but after the alarm was raised lifeboat crews were on hand to help, using two large planks to move from the station’s jetty to her position and pull her free.

Hide AdCrewman Ben McGarry (pictured) said the incident was caused after the woman’s dogs ran onto the mud. She followed and became stuck.
He added: “It is often the case in situations like this that dogs are able to get to safety by themselves while the owners end up in trouble.”
After receiving medical attention the woman was allowed to return home.
