A woman kicked a police officer in the face as she struggled to escape.

Jennifer Sutton also tried to bite the PC as she writhed drunkenly around on the floor.

Sutton, , 31, of St Chads Road, South Shore, pleaded guilty to assault and being drunk and disorderly.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said police tried to arrest Sutton after seeing her drunkenly running after a woman on Queen Street on December 15 at 9.30pm.

She twice fell to the floor spinning around and then lashed out at the officer.

She could not breathe and she kicked out, not intending to connect with an officer.
