A woman wearing red pyjamas was over the limit while having a driving lesson at midnight.
Louise Ditchfield came to the attention of the police after she swerved across the road, narrowly missing another car and her driving instructor had to grab the wheel.
Ditchfield, 23, a waitress, of Cocker Street, North Shore, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
She was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £110 with £85 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge. Martine Connah, prosecuting, said a man driving his car on Central Drive, Blackpool, saw Ditchfield swerving all over the road and just missed hitting his car on December 22 at 11.50pm. He followed her and pulled his car in front of hers forcing her to stop.
The car set off again and police found it in Cocker Street. Ditchfield was in the passenger seat wearing red pyjamas. A man behind the wheel told officers he was her driving instructor and he had been taking her for a lesson.
A blood test showed 84 millilitres of alcohol in Ditchfield’s body - 80 is the limit. She told officers she had not drunk any alcohol since the night before. The prosecutor added: “She said she had been driving round for a couple of hours when she swerved round some cars in Central Drive and her instructor grabbed the wheel, before insisting on driving back.”
Ditchfield told magistrates: “It was a big mistake to make and I apologise.”
