Woman 90, hurt in road collision

An elderly woman was left with facial injuries after a collision with a car on a zebra crossing.

The incident happened on St Annes Road West, St Annes, at 10.05am yesterday.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “The elderly woman has, fortunately, only suffered minor injuries.

“She has hurt her shoulder and has cuts to her face.

“The driver stopped at the scene, but delays in traffic were caused as paramedics checked to see the woman was OK.”

An ambulance was on the scene and took the woman to hospital to be checked over.

The motorist involved was driving a silver Ford Fiesta.

Police later confirmed the woman is 90 years old.

The road was re-opened at about 11.30am.
