AN 87-year-old woman who was in collision with a car in Kirkham has lost her fight for life.
The woman has been named as Gwennie Dean and police have today made an appeal to track down any members of her family.
Mrs Dean was involved in a collision with a Nissan Micra as she crossed Poulton Street close to The Queen Arms Pub at 2pm on Monday. She was rushed to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with serious head injuries, but sadly died around 6am yesterday morning.
Sgt Dave Hogarth from Lancashire Police’s road policing unit, told The Gazette: “Sadly, we haven’t been able to trace Mrs Dean’s family. I would appeal to any family members to contact police.
“An investigation into the collision is ongoing. I would still appeal for anybody who witnessed it to come forward.”
Mrs Dean is believed to have originally been from Yorkshire but had lived in Kirkham for many years.
Poulton Road was closed for two and half hours as accident investigators worked at the scene to try to ascertain the cause of the collision.
