A WOMAN threw a three-year-old boy into a playpen causing bruising on his stomach.

Hayley Daniels, 21, of Harrison Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to assaulting a child and was bailed for pre-sentence reports by resort magistrates.

Jackie Garrett, prosecuting, said a witness saw Daniels throw a toddler into a playpen on March 17.

The boy dropped from three feet and hit his midriff on the top of the playpen. He was taken to hospital and examined by doctors.

Steven Townley, defending, said his client had no previous convictions. Daniels said the boy had been naughty and bitten her, so she intended giving the child some time out in the playpen.

She was trying to put him in the playpen and he struggled. Daniels accepted she used more force than she should have.
