"I am in such a state of shock that I can’t even remember how I got back to my mum's car as I ran in a complete opposite way."

Taxi driver Robin Garner captured the car on his dashcam before the incident as he was unloading passengers at the Home/HQ clubs.

He said: "Although the incident wasn’t caught by my camera it clearly shows him speeding past me heading towards the zebra crossing, then he turned left onto Market street and a few moments later he came flying out of Corporation Street / Talbot Road junction smashing through the road work barriers. He then took a left then a right heading north on the promenade."

Mr Garner says he has passed the footage on to police.
