Beer fans will be able to raise a glass or two to the resurgence of real ale when a huge festival returns to Blackpool's Winter Gardens.

The event last year saw more than 2,000 guests sampling a range of beers and ciders, and organisers are hoping for even bigger numbers this year.

The festival will run from Friday, March 23 to Saturday, March 24, with two day-long sessions inside the Olympia room.

The event is being organised by Liverpool-based Real Ale Events.

Mark Hensby, managing director, said: “We had great success with our Blackpool beer festival last year, and cannot wait to bring back a bigger and better event this year.”

He said festival-goers can expect up to 125 different real ales, craft canned beers and ciders, including beers from sponsors Lancaster Brewery on a hand pull bar.

He added that there would be locally sourced ales from Lytham Brewery and Preston-based Beer Brothers, over to the multi-award- winning Brass Castle from York, down to Pot Belly Brewery in Kettering and further South to Mad Squirrel Brewery in Hertfordshire.

The cider collection will be increased from last year’s festival offering and will include a variety of dry to fruity ciders – bringing back a popular Blackpool festival favourite Lilley’s Mango.

To bring in a few summer vibes to proceedings, there will also be an indoor gin garden featuring a range of boutique gins, spirits, craft canned beers, wine and prosecco, plus live music throughout the festival for a variety of bands.
