A former Blackpool pub has been sold for more than double its guide price 12 months after it closed its doors to drinkers.

The Dinmore Hotel on Dinmore Avenue, Grange Park, went under the hammer for £250,000 when it was
auctioned at a sale at the
Etihad Stadium in

Paul Thompson, director and auctioneer at Pugh and Company, which held the sale, said bidding for the property had been competitive.

He added: “The Dinmore Hotel achieved a fantastic sale price in the room and adds to a number of very successful sales achieved in the Blackpool area at our recent

The auctioneers were
unable to disclose who had bought the pub or what the site might be used for.

But some residents would like to see it converted into a foodstore.

Terry Bennett, chairman of the Grange Park Community Partnership, said; “The building has been stripped of all its fittings and we have been told it could not be used as a pub again.

“I would like to see it
reopened as a shop.

“We used to have a groceryshop, a bakery and a fish and chip shop on Dinmore Place and when they closed there was an outcry because there are no shops in the centre of the estate.

“If it was to be a store, it would have its own car park.

“Whatever it is going to be, it will certainly be better than what is there now.”

The Dinmore closed down on July 14 last year when owners Calco Pubs went into

At the time, administrators Zalfo Cooper said the pub had been losing money for some time and needed to invest in health and safety compliance measures.

In November last year, the body of 48-year-old Eugene Ferguson was found in the cellar of the Dinmore after he got into the boarded up building through the roof.

Another Blackpool lot to be sold at last week’s auction was a vacant parcel of land in
Layton offered on behalf of Tesco’s. Situated off Westcliffe Drive, the land was offered with a guide price of £25,000 and sold for £41,000 under the hammer.

The closing date for Pugh’s next auction in September is Friday August 8.
