A farm fire destroyed 15 tonnes of hay as a result of spontaneous combustion.

Three crews tackled the fire for almost four hours yesterday at Larbreck House Farm, on Well Lane, Wesham, at 6.25am.

Brian Coulburn, watch manager at Wesham Fire Station, said: “Three pumps attended the fire and a water relay was set up to get water to the incident at the open sided barn.”

Nobody was injured in the blaze and firefighters left the scene at 10.15am.
