The helpline, which is staffed by trained volunteers, can be contacted on 0800 915 4640 and is open Monday to Friday 7pm to 11pm and Saturday and Sunday noon to midnight.

Perri McGovern, helpline volunteer coordinator at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said: “Around one in four people will experience a mental health problem at some point during their life such as depression, stress or anxiety.

“The helpline provides a listening ear for people who feel they can’t talk to those close to them about how they’re feeling or anyone concerned about the health of a loved one.

“We are also able to signpost people who may be unsure where to turn for assistance on issues such as bereavement or sleeping problems amongst many others, in order to help people with their overall health and wellbeing.
