This weekend’s top event takes place at Fleetwood as thousands of people take to the port’s streets for Tram Sunday.

Although Fleetwood’s annual transport extravaganza will still feature a huge display of classic cars and other vintage vehicles on Lord Street, the day will also include the new SpareParts spectacle, based around the Marine Hall.

Artists, dancers, singers and mechanical masterpieces are set to arrive in Fleetwood this Sunday as part of the big day, which will have a science fiction feel to it.

Robert Brown, chairman of Fleetwood Festival of Transport, said: “The committee of Tram Sunday have been looking for a way of keeping the crowds coming and feel the introduction of SpareParts will attract an even bigger
audience.”

The day starts with a parade on Lord Street from 11am, followed by a mechanical parade from 3pm and JCBs on the beach at 5pm.

The nine-day festival, now in its fourth year, starts in Ashton Gardens with an afternoon music festival, while Ashton Pavilion will feature a wide variety of performers during the week, along with arts displays.

If you want to show your support for the RNLI, Lytham St Annes lifeboatmen hold their annual open day on Sunday from 10am to 4pm at the station on the Promenade in St Annes.

Explore the boathouse and take a tour of the all-weather lifeboat Her Majesty the Queen and the station’s inshore lifeboat Sally.

On Saturday, Weeton Garden Party takes place between 1.30pm and 3.30pm, with Francesca Battersby crowned Rose Queen.
